Zonta | Women leading climate action

Nicolette will speak at the Zonta Club of Northern Sydney's Women Leading Climate Action event on June 18 in Lindfield — alongside some wonderful local women leaders.

The Zonta Club of Northern Sydney invites you to an event to learn about the Zonta Says NOW campaign and to hear from dynamic local women leaders who are promoting a better environmental future through their work and activism.

Join climate advocates and community leaders for a powerful conversation on how climate change disproportionately impacts women and girls - and how women are leading action, innovation and sustainable change.

Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. Understanding climate change as a human rights issue is central to the fight against climate change, but also to creating a sustainable, gender-equal future.

Speakers:

  • Nicolette Boele MP - Before being elected as the Member for Bradfield in 2025, Nicolette Boele MP spent 30 years working in clean energy and finance - helping businesses and governments make practical, sustainable decisions to build a stronger economy. Nicolette believes strong climate action and a strong economy go hand in hand, and that Australia should lead the transition toward a future with cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable energy. She now serves on the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water.
  • Jill Green - Ku-ring-gai Council's 2026 Environmental Citizen of the Year and appointed to the Council’s Environment Advisory Committee. Jill Green is a retired actuary who for many years has worked as a volunteer protecting local biodiversity and bushland, taking a keen interest in climate change and its impact on the natural environment. Her experience in community organisations includes 15 years as President of STEP, an environment group that aims to conserve native bushland.
  • Dr Lisa Selbie - Sustainability and circular economy advocate who draws on her background in biotechnology research and education to inspire individual action and drive collective climate action. She leads Willoughby Council’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, advising on Council’s Green City Plan 2028. She is a scientist, educator, and advocate for evidence-based solutions to tackle environmental challenges - from ocean health to climate resilience.
