Welcome to Part 1 of our 2023 fundraising story.
Our approach to community fundraising that is fair, transparent,
about people not profits and about citizens not corporations.
Dear Supporter,
This series of 5 emails over 5 weeks is to invite you on our journey of transforming political fundraising in Bradfield and maybe even be a model for the rest of Australia. We will cover how we ran a campaign with our major donors earlier this year, launched an innovative campaign with our community donors this week and what we plan for June, with our in-kind donors.
Innovative Community Donors Campaign – launched 27 April 2023
It is the community donor campaign that is innovative, and below is our first in a series of social media post launching the campaign.
But first let me tell you about our major donors’ campaign. We spoke to the 12 major donors from the 2022 campaign about the campaign’s forecast operational costs. Nine of these recommitted to an annual donation each year for three years of a minimum of $5,000. These donations pay for the campaign’s office, the part-time Chief of Staff, insurances, and software. The amount we’ve raised from this category of donor covers eight months of each year and we are now looking for five more major donors. Could you be one of these?
What this means is that the shadow representative office and operations are financially secure, and largely liquid until the election in 2025 (or earlier). This allows us to now focus on community donations that will fund our campaigning activities.
Next week we will share more about our approach to community fundraising that is fair, transparent, about people not profits and about citizens not corporations. We hope you enjoy reading it, consider donating and use this as your latest conversation starter!
Please visit the campaign website and read more about reasons and rationale here and consider donating.
Thank you for your on-going support, in whatever way you can.

@Nicolette_Boele Twitter Post 28 April 2023: The ALP has been in Gov nearly a year; we've had some wins on #integrity, #climate & #gambling, but not enough. When you follow the $$$, it helps explain why. That's why I'm trying a new way of raising political campaign funds. Asking people, not corporates to fund me. You can read my op ed here: And if you’re up for helping reform political campaign finance, please donate - it feels nearly as good as giving blood. Try it! |
Before you donate, please read
Even though a federal election (or a by-election!) has not been called, the laws applying to political campaigns still apply. More information is here. The AEC website always has the latest information here. Nicolette’s own policy is to declare donations (donor name and amount) over $1,500 in aggregate over the financial year; also she does not accept donations from non-human entities that are operated for profit alone
